Kiwanis to raise funds for cemetery grave markers

The Selah Kiwanis Club will host a “lunch special” (hotdog and soda) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at Save On Foods to raise money to purchase cement grave markers for the Old Pioneer Cemetery.
Kiwanis Club member Wendy Culver said that because of recent community efforts to clean up and beautify the cemetery, the club has the opportunity to purchase cement headstones at a reasonable cost from the Statuary Gardens in Naches.
Culver said this weekend was the best time to hold the fundraiser because the next few weekends are filled with Community Days events and the state 2A tournament.
“Our goal is to have the headstones dedicated during Memorial Day weekend in honor of our historical cemetery and the people who are buried there,” Culver said.
