Mason Clark and Alex Johnson perform for Robert Lince Elementary Students Friday, Jan. 8. Laughs rippled through the audience of Robert Lince Elementary School students this past week as volunteers from Selah High School entertained hundreds of students with the Yakima County Parent to Parent “Kids on the Block” program.
The Kid’s on the Block program, “provides educational puppet programs that enlighten children on the issues of disability awareness, medical and educational differences, and social concerns,” according to the Children’s Village Kids on the Block website.
“The presentations share real life experiences of children with disabilities,” said Mary Lynne Brewington, Kids on the Block and YouthWorks coordinator for Children’s Village. “The program is to build patience, awareness and sensitivity to differences.”
