Selah High School senior Johnny Martinez was chosen Mr. Selah High School Saturday night in a fun-filled, hilarious, and light-hearted competition. Carlos Torres was selected as runner-up.

Adviser Michelle McCartney said the Mr. SHS is primarily a fundraiser for the senior class.

“We run it during Drug and Alcohol Awareness week to make sure we have fun drug-free activities for kids going on,” she said.

Any senior boy can try out for the honor and are judged in many different categories. 

Besides talent, the contestants were judged on responsibility component, determined in part by attendance at meetings and practices.  The night events were the opening dance, modeling and talent portion, which included the contestants demonstrating their sports talents, movie-making skills, magic tricks, dancing, singing, and Hank

A popular vote adds to the mix.

The Ms. SHS pageant is at 7 p.m., April 25 at the Selah High School gym. Don’t miss it.
