After smashing Portland Alpenrose and Centralia on Friday, the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak successfully faced the Yakima Beetles Saturday with a 9-7 victory.

It wasn’t all tilted in Yakima Valley’s favor, though, until later in the game. The Beetles were up 3-0 after scoring two in the second inning and one in the third, and then the Pak tied things up with three runs in the bottom of the second.

Yakima wasn’t going to be silenced, though, as they packed on four more runs in the fourth inning, but wouldn’t score anymore runs the rest of the way.

With their work cut out for them, the Pak cut the Beetles’ lead to 7-5 with two more runs in the fifth, and broke away with four more runs in the sixth to secure the win.

The Pak had nine runs on 11 hits, while the Beetles had seven runs on eight hits.

Kevin Allan drove in three runs for the game, and two of them came on a home run. Chris Demond hit 2-3 with a double and a triple.

Going 3-0 in the first two days of tourney play, the Pak secured a spot in Sunday’s championship game.
