They might as well be called the Pak Attack, as far as Hanford is concerned. In two days, Yakima Valley dominated Hanford by winning all four games.

And they can do it at home as well as on the road. After sweeping Hanford at home Monday, the Pak headed to Richland June 17 and swept Hanford 9-6 and 11-8.

The most noticeable difference between the two days of competition are the scores. The Pak won by closer margins in both games on Tuesday, but a win’s a win, and Yakima Valley was solid in each outing.

In the first game, both teams scored two runs in the second inning, but in the fourth inning things started shaking up. The Pak edged ahead with a 3-2 lead, but Hanford retaliated with three runs to earn a 5-3 advantage.

But Yakima Valley could not be contained in the sixth, when they broke out with six runs. Hanford’s single and final run in the seventh wasn’t enough to come back.

The Pak scored nine runs on 10 hits, while Pak pitcher Zach Biehl struck out six batters until Jake Fife relieved him in the seventh.

Chris Demond drove in three runs on 2-5 hitting, including a double. Eathan Hood also had three RBI.

Cory Urquhart went 2-4 with one RBI, while catcher John Plughoff hit 2-3.

In game two, the Pak blasted ahead with a 7-0 lead after scoring three runs in the first inning, one in the second, and three more in the fourth.

Hanford finally got its offense going with one run in the sixth, but the Pak responded with four more runs in the seventh.

And it’s a good thing Yakima Valley added those insurance runs, because Hanford’s offense roared with seven runs in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, but the Pak’s earlier scoring allowed them to come away unscathed.

Pitcher Adam Frenzel struck out seven batters and didn’t give up any hits through five innings.

Catcher Matt Snider went 2-3 and drove in two runs, and Dustin Daniels had two RBI on 3-4 hitting. Plughoff was 3-4 and had two RBI.

Demond went 2-4 with an RBI, while Cody Edwards hit 2-5 with one RBI. Kevin Allan hit 2-4.
