The Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management has prepared an emergency planning guide for families to help residents prepare for emergencies or disasters in the valley.

The OEM prepared the guide in response to local and national flooding, according to a recent press release.

“The Yakima Valley is made up of strong, very independent individuals with vast capabilities,” the press release said.

“With a few simple tools and knowledge we can manage significant events and not become a devastated suffering community like we have seen on the national news.
