The Selah City Council approved $20,000 for the proposed skate park Tuesday to come from the city’s general fund.

Project Coordinator, Allen Schmid, said the slab will be poured by mid-May and the grand opening for the new park is expected to be June 21.

“That’s National Skateboard day,” Schmid said. “People from outside the area have an expressed an interest in helping celebrate the opening of the skate park.

Schmid said the plaza skate park will consist of a cement slab with various apparatus set up for the skateboarders.
