Movin' on up

I am so tired. My feet still hurt and my back still aches. My nerves are shot and I am dumbfounded. What can these things mean when you put them all together? Easy . . . we packed up our farm and moved it! (For those of you who guessed correctly when I said "Feel free to speculate" you get an imaginary slap on the back from yours truly.)
Moving is no easy thing. The last time we did it I was hoping to never have to move again. In fact, last time it only took four guys and me a day and I thought that was rough. This time I've been preparing and packing and cleaning for a month. It took four guys an entire weekend and we still aren't quite done.
A big difference with this move was the support we had. My mother-in-law lives near our new five acre farm, and she set up her barbeque and told us to pull in when we got hungry. She fixed us hamburgers and hotdogs and served them up with chips and watermelon, it was fantastic. It was really hot Saturday and that watermelon hit the spot!
That evening my mom and step-dad came all the way from White Swan to bring us a delicious stew for dinner. I was glad because I didn't feel like cooking. Plus, our new stove didn't have the cord to plug it into the wall; I couldn't cook even if I wanted too.
Rick's friend from Wilbur drove down to help, and his other friend from Bickleton came to help too. My brother was here and even some of Wyatt's friends came over to help - sort of. One of our friends invited us over for an oyster fry as well.
The other big difference this time is the amount of "stuff" we've accumulated. I'm not talking about random furnishings, but animals. We have our Pomeranian (whose hair is almost back to normal); our 14 year old cat with a shriveled ear and gimpy leg; Wyatt and Cheyenne have a cat each, but they are outside kitties; my chickens and of course Rick's calfers. We have a horse too, but he's in White Swan. Our big cows are at a friend's house and for those of you who remember, we don't have pigs at the moment either.
I love everything about our new property. The road we moved to is as pretty as a picture. Everyone waves when you drive by and they all keep their yards nice. We have a mature apricot tree, large lilac bushes, irises are blooming, a clothes line in the back, and the best part . . . it came with a chicken coop and garden!
